McCandless Crossing, located in the Town of McCandless, is at the signalized intersection of McKnight Road and Duncan Avenue. The property is an assemblage of 130 acres on both the east and west sides of McKnight Road. McKnight Road is the primary retail corridor serving the northern communities of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. McCandless Crossing is located approximately 2 miles north of Ross Park Mall, the major mall in the North Hills trade area. By positioning McCandless Crossing north it makes the location more accessible and convenient to the more affluent areas of north Pittsburgh. Description

Anchored by Lowe’s Home Improvement Store, McCandless Crossing is a 1,200,000 +/- sf mixed use project consisting of a Town Center component and a master planned area including retail, office, hotels, entertainment and residential.  It is immediately adjacent to the UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh’s premier suburban hospital, La Roche College (1,600 +/- students) and the McCandless Corporate Center (40,000 +/- sf office park).  This high quality suburban location has excellent east/west access via Duncan Avenue and Cumberland Road and is convenient to the affluent suburban communities of Ross, Franklin Park, Pine, Richland, McCandless, Hampton, Bradford Woods, and Marshall Township.  Our plan is to create a project that complements the existing base of properties and knits them together in a cohesive plan that further energizes the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

The northern tier suburbs of Pittsburgh boast sustained growth with an excellent school system in North Allegheny which serves McCandless.  UPMC Passavant has completed a 190,000 sf expansion and has raised [its] employment numbers to 2,700.  La Roche College, the Vincentian Communities, McCandless Corporate Center, and North Allegheny Schools collectively employ an additional 3,300 persons.

dicks sporting goods property photo.aiMcCandless Crossing continues to move forward with leasing and construction.  Restaurant outparcels on the west side with frontage on McKnight Road (Route 19) are available along with 2,000 sf of office space.

Lowe’s Home Improvement, WesBanco Bank, LA Fitness, DiBella’s Old Fashioned Subs, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt, SportClips, Nail Studio II, Verizon Wireless Zone, GEICO Insurance, IHOP, and CVS are open for business.  In other development news, the west side’s Hilton Home 2 Suites and DoodleBugs Childcare Center are now open as well.  The Town Center’s (Phase IV) construction is well underway for the 250,000 sf of space, and the first openings will begin in spring 2014.  The Residences at McCandless Crossing are now under construction as well.

Tenants will include Dick’s Sporting Goods,Cinemark Theater, HomeGoods, Bonefish Grill, Longhorn Steakhouse, Trader Joe’s, First Watch Restaurant, Super Cuts, national and regional retailers, office, medical office, a second hotel, and much more. AdVenture Development’s President, Kevin Dougherty, describes the Town Center as a central walkable, livable community that will synergize all the surrounding areas with sidewalks and green spaces.
